Reach Every Reader is a collaboration with educators, families, researchers, and product developers creating solutions to ensure that every child can unlock the wonder of words and stories.
Reach Every Reader’s vision is that all children will be readers with the skills, knowledge, and interest to read for learning and pleasure. We want every child to succeed, and we don’t want to wait for children to fail before we help them thrive.
We are doing things differently. We are not just studying the problem of early reading – we are solving it.
No single solution will reach every reader. We tackle the problem of poor reading simultaneously from several angles. This cross-disciplinary and multi-institutional effort focuses on developing foundational literacy skills, early screening and diagnosis, content-rich intervention, teacher and caregiver support, and reach for sustainable impact.
Reach Every Reader goes beyond the research. We create tools to support young emergent readers and the adults who help them throughout their journey. We test our tools in multiple contexts and making changes to them as we learn what works well, what doesn’t, and for whom so we can eventually reach EVERY reader.
Without proper implementation, even the best literacy approaches have limited impact. We build tools and experiences to support the critical role educators play in a child’s development. Our agile teaching models are designed to help teachers quickly adapt to the needs of individual students, while simultaneously managing a large classroom.
Learn MoreWe are taking a holistic approach to the screening and diagnostic assessment of literacy development for children in Grades K-3 to support earlier and more personalized interventions for struggling readers. Our screening tools provide data that can be used to determine whether a child is at risk.
Learn MoreWe go beyond the mechanics of reading and also focus on content knowledge and motivation to support a wide range of developing readers. The MORE intervention for K-3 children grounds exciting content-rich word learning in science and social studies topics.
Learn MorePre-literacy skills can be learned long before children arrive at school! We built, tested, and validated four apps to promote early reading skills through dialogue and playful interactions between children and parents/caregivers. These apps are available now for free!
